Vanco Golf Range

Golf enthusiasts aren’t short of golfing opportunities in Vancouver WA golf courses, with picturesque courses and modern driving ranges scattered throughout the city. Private clubs and public courses offer a variety of options, from traditional tree-lined fairways to stunning mountain and city views. The city’s mild climate means that golfing is possible all year round.

One of Vancouver’s most popular golf courses is Vanco, located across from the Tower Mall. The City of Vancouver plans to close the driving range and replace it with a new residential and commercial development, but regular customers like Sims are fighting to keep Vanco open.

The drive-on, mat-style range offers a convenient practice setting, and its staff also provides coaching and clinics for players of all skill levels. The range has 60 stalls and is open all-year round. The City of Vancouver also operates the Richmond Golf and Country Club, which features both grass and mat driving ranges. University Golf Club in Pacific Spirit Regional Park is another Vancouver-area public course, offering a traditional layout amidst forested surroundings.

A number of local schools use Vanco to train their players, and the golf coach at Hudson’s Bay High School says that the team practices three to four days a week at the range. Milne has been encouraging his customers to write to the city council or planning commission about keeping Vanco open, and he hopes that more voices will help keep the driving range at its current location.

The clubhouse is well-equipped and has a restaurant and bar. The staff is friendly and helpful, making it a perfect place to spend an afternoon. The golf course is open year-round, but tee times are recommended.
